RE: Announcement - RPCs Regional Energy Workshop

All,

There isn’t a lot to talk about with our success on energy fairs and presentations. I’d really like to hear other success stories that we could model after that could potentially benefit us in the future.

I’m assuming that other communities have also done the Energy inventory and audits. Is this a bad assumption?

Hi All,

Julie LaBranche asked if we would be interested in presenting our work.  I told her we would consider talking about the Energy Inventory, Chapter and Audit, but a little hesitant to talk about fairs, etc.  Although, I also think a frank discussion about challenges of motivating people to change is relevant to all.  Thoughts?

RE: My Energy Plan: Button-Up 201

Eric,

The event is organized by the Atkinson Energy Commission and co-sponsored by Kimball Public Library, the Atkinson Lions Club and Rep. Jim Garrity.  I will have copies of the hand-out from Denise.

The library will not be open for us until 9:30.  The set-up time will be quick and the library personnel will jump in quickly to help with the PowerPoint set-up.

Thanks for sharing your time and expertise!

Michelle

Hello Michelle,

I'm looking forward to presenting this Saturday. Who should I thank for hosting the event during my introduction?

Also, will you have copies of the presentation for folks to take notes on?

I'll plan on arriving at the Library at 9 a.m. with the presentation from 10 – 12:00 (90 to 120 mins).

Denise- Should I bring a blower door and a thermal camera, or will these folks already be up to speed on these tools having attended the BU 101 already?

Thank you,

Eric

Denise,  Thank you for setting this up so quickly.  We are really looking forward to hosting Button-Up again.  I think the 201 will be perfect, as many attendees were asking detailed questions in the first session.  Do you have a poster file that we can modify or a logo that we can use to advertise?

Eric, thank you for volunteering to present to our region on 3/24!  We will be in a conference room with an LCD projector in it.  Please let me know what you might need.  Kimball Library is located at 5 Academy Avenue in Atkinson (right nex to the Fire Station and the Historical Society).  We are looking forward to your presentation!

Diane, looks like we're set for 3/24 at 10am.  Could you reserve the space for us officially?  Also, our next meeting will be held on 2/27/12 at 7pm in Town Hall, if you would like to attend.  (We have a conference call scheduled at 7pm, so 7:30 would actually be best, if that possible for you.)

Thank you all for your help!  We will get started promoting!

How would 10:00am to noon be? The BU201 talk runs 90 minutes to 2 hours, so that should allow for plenty of time.

I just need from you confirmation of the time, the location (venue) and a snow date or snow policy (such as "in the event of bad weather, a decision to cancel the workshop will be made by 7:00am")  and I'll add your workshop to our BUNH schedule.

Thanks Michelle and Eric!

Hi Michelle,

This is all great to hear! Perfectly fine to have the pieces in play...we know that it takes awhile to get all the players on board. In order to confirm the workshop with a presenter, I need a couple of suggested dates and times from you. Please select a snow date or snow policy to have in effect (such as: "in the event of bad weather a decision to cancel or reschedule the workshop will be made by 5:00pm)  With that info, I'll reach out to a presenter (we have several in your area). With a confirmed workshop and confirmed list of co-sponsors, your workshop gets added to our schedule (http://myenergyplan.net/buttonup/bunhSchedule.jsp) and map (http://myenergyplan.net/buttonup/map.jsp).

Thanks,

Hi There Michelle!

I'm glad you're excited about the new slate of Button Up workshops this year...we are as well!

New this year, we are looking for workshops to be co-sponsored by 3 organizations (for example, an LEC, the town's library, and a local business or it could be an LEC or businesses/organizations from neighboring towns) so that the chairs are all filled (standing room only?) and it's an informational and engaging workshop for everyone.

Please take a look at our Responsibilities of Organizers Guide that is attached. It outlines the commitment we need from the organizer, what services we can provide, and is a good first step in hosting a Button Up workshop.

After you've reviewed the document, have some co-sponsors in mind, and a few proposed dates and times, let me know and we'll go on from there!

So glad you're enthusiastic about Button Up!

Sincerely,

Denise

Bring all the cool tools you can.

Michelle

Already have a speaker confirmed for you, Michelle. Eric Sandberg of Nashua BetterBuildings. Eric is cc'd on this email.

Eric's bio is here:

http://myenergyplan.net/buttonup/bunhPresentersBios.jsp

How would 10:00am to noon be? The BU201 talk runs 90 minutes to 2 hours, so that should allow for plenty of time.

I just need from you confirmation of the time, the location (venue) and a snow date or snow policy (such as "in the event of bad weather, a decision to cancel the workshop will be made by 7:00am")  and I'll add your workshop to our BUNH schedule.

Thanks Michelle and Eric!

Hi Denise,

We finally have all of the local sponsors - the Atkinson Energy Commission, Kimball Public Library and the Atkinson Lions Club.  Is March 24th a possible date for any of your speakers?  If not, we have other availability - it's just the date that worked best for all three groups.  Morning would be best.  Once we have the date, we will share with all libraries and conservation commissions in the region and if you could share with Energy Committees, that would be great.

Thanks!

Michelle

P.S.  Do you have a poster format that we can modify?

Thanks,

Denise

Denise,

We just had a meeting on Monday.  The library has agreed to co-sponsor and Jim Garrity was reaching out to the Lions Club to ask for their support.    I'm sure we'll get it, but I don't have the official word yet.  We are looking at a Saturday in late March or early April.  Can you put us on the schedule with that and I'll finish all paperwork when I hear back from Jim?  (We will also invite neighboring towns and reach out to other libraries, LECs, etc.)

Sincerely,

Denise
