RE: Carbon challenge

Hi All,

Forgot to mention in first email ...

When I took the pledge, one of the tool's shortcomings was that you didn't receive a print-out of your pledge.  I made that suggestion to the authors - not sure if it has happened, so make sure to print out your results page.  I will need your info for the slideshow.

I just took the carbon challenge. We aim to save 17,670 lbs of carbon and roughly $2,400 if we execute on our intentions.

It's a good tool to help people look at what is the best bang for the buck as they consider energy efficiency options.

Subject: Action Items from Meeting

Hi Everyone,

Jim and I met at the Town Hall Tuesday anyway.  We came up with a few action items:
  • Jim will put an announcement on cable about the NH RideShare program for Atkinson residents
  • Michelle will check with Noriko about scheduling the NH Carbon Challenge presentation in late September at the Comm Ctr.  We will ask Selectmen to attend and then ask them to issue a "challenge" to surrounding towns' selectmen to take the challenge.  We will offer another presentation later in the fall including surrounding towns at the new library.  The idea is to tap into each community's competitiveness and get people moving in the right direction.
  • Jim will talk with Dave about recording presentations for replay on cable channel. (NH Carbon Challenge, Jim on new energy efficiency/renewable energy legislation and what it means for us, etc.)
  • Michelle will look into ideas for "staycations" - enjoyable destinations within 10/20/30 miles from Atkinson to reduce gas use
  • Selectmen stopped by re: concern over rising energy costs for town - asked committee to attend workshop to be scheduled in the next month.  (Michelle received supporting data from Dave Weymouth on Tuesday for town buildings and will enter it into one of the performance benchmarking applications available online before workshop.)
To do's for all:
  • Take the NH Carbon Challenge - or at least go online and look through it, considering what options you would be willing to commit to.  Also consider why reducing your carbon footprint is important to you personally.  We'll incorporate this info into the PowerPoint slideshow in early September (or before).  www.nhcarbonchallenge.org
  • Attend Selectmen's Energy workshop, when scheduled
Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12th at 7pm at the Town Hall.  Since we decided on the second Tuesday of every month, let's assume that all can make it, unless you send an email to the contrary.

RE: Tomorrow's meeting

Michelle,

My mistake, I accidentally read Mike Jackson's email as "I can make the meeting tonight". When I replied "me too", I was referring that I could make the meeting tonight.

Then I saw your email about rescheduling, I was confused about what you were doing….

I can make the meeting tonight!  I would only like to hold the meeting if we can get Jim Garrity, that way there at least 3 of us…that's my 2 cents.

Michael

Hi Everyone,

We are scheduled to meet tomorrow night at 7pm.  Please le me know if you plan to attend.  It's very important that we get critical mass to move things forward.  We still haven't elected officers and definitely need to find a way to recruit new faces!

RE: Tomorrow's meeting

I'm still willing to meet with whoever is available... at least we can bounce some ideas around and get them out to the rest of the team...
