I spoke with Michael about taking over this meeting for me, because I have a conflict, but we do not have a lot to discuss. I'm going to call Barbara to cancel.

Unfortunately, I have not had time to move the RFP for the ECMs that are beyond Dave's maintenance work. If there's someone that could help me on this, I would appreciate it!! (The library will be completing their ECMs under their Board's guidance.)

We are committed to a table at the ACC tree lighting. The event is Dec 1st from 5:30 to 8pm. Jim, I would like to be able to hand out the Unitil leftovers to Atkinson people who stop by the table. Will you be there that night or should I stop by your house to get the bulbs/LED lights? Can anyone help out at the event ? It's nice to have some company!

We have a nice line-up of speakers. Depending on how it goes we can do as we have in the past, which is to have them repeat their presentation in the second hour. Hopefully, we have attendees!

Somehow my article sent to the Carriage Town News didn't make it in this week. Please forward the last email to as many email contacts as you can in the area. Otherwise, we will be dependent upon library patrons, which will result in a light attendance!

Atkinson Energy Fair

Greetings!

The Atkinson Energy Commission is holding its 4th Annual Energy Fair on Saturday, November 5th from 11am to 1pm at Kimball Public Library (5 Academy Ave., Atkinson)

A variety of short presentations will be given, repeating in the second hour of the fair.

Unitil will present information on rebates and efficiency programs.
ReVision Energy will present information on solar systems and rebates and tax credits available right now!
Mancusi Builders will talk about home energy audits, and energy efficient new building and remodeling opportunities

We will also be showing portions of the Button Up presentation that tells you how to tighten up your home yourself! In addition, area vendors will be available to answer your questions on how to get started lowering your energy bills this winter.

We welcome all area residents - the fair is free and as always, includes products and ideas to save you money!

Solo Exhibition, Additional Awards, and Continuing Kudos

Meetinghouse Exhibition Travels to Murfreesboro, Tennessee:

The Baldwin Photographic Gallery at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is currently hosting my solo traveling exhibition of meetinghouse photographs through December 8, 2011.

I will be in Murfreesboro on Monday, November 7, and will give a presentation about my work, including the historical significance of New England's meetinghouses, at 7:30 PM in the State Farm Room, Business and Aerospace Building. A reception and book signing will follow in the gallery. Copies of my book may also be purchased Here.

My solo show this past summer at The Gallery at Hallmark in Turners Falls, Massachusetts, was beautifully installed and very well received.

Be an ENERGY STAR Video Challenge

Launched in April, EPA's "Be an ENERGY STAR" video challenge encouraged Americans to pick up their cameras and document the energy-saving actions they are taking in their home, school, workplace, and community. The public voted on Facebook for their top picks to star in a national culmination video about ways to save with ENERGY STAR. EPA is excited to release a video showcasing the top five vote-getters!

So far this year, 70 different organizations held more than 800 energy efficiency-related events across the country, ranging from flash mobs to CFL give-a-ways. The interactive online map of events made it easy for people across the country to click on their state, and find out about ENERGY STAR focused events going on in their own neighborhoods. Although the events are wrapping up, there are still some happening, so visit the map at: http://www.energystar.gov/starsmap to find one near you.

Tips for Saving Energy this Fall and Winter

With winter setting in across the nation, EPA encourages Americans to continue to take action to save energy and cut heating costs this winter:

Maintain heating equipment: Dirt and neglect are the number one causes of heating system failure, so be sure to maintain your equipment. Now is a good time to schedule a pre-season checkup of your heating equipment with a licensed contractor to make sure your system is operating at peak performance. Check your system's air filter every month and when it is dirty, change it. At a minimum change it every 3 months.

Use a programmable thermostat: Regulate your home's temperature while you're away or asleep by using one of the convenient pre-programmed settings on a programmable thermostat. When used properly, programmable thermostats can save you up to $180 every year in energy costs.

Seal air leaks in your home: Sealing air leaks with caulk, spray foam, or weather stripping will have a significant impact on improving your comfort and reducing energy bills. If you are adding insulation to your home, be sure to seal air leaks first, to ensure you get the best performance from your insulation.

Utilize the ENERGY STAR Website: Use ENERGY STAR's Home Energy Yardstick to compare your home's energy use to similar homes across the country and see how your home measures up. ENERGY STAR's Home Energy Advisor can give recommendations for energy-saving home improvements for typical homes in your area.

Look for ENERGY STAR qualified products: Whether you are replacing light bulbs or appliances in your home, ENERGY STAR qualified products can help you save energy and reduce energy bills. The label can be found on more than 60 types of products ranging from heating and cooling equipment to compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).

Don't forget to take the ENERGY STAR pledge now!
Take the pledge for the first time, or if you haven't taken it in a while, take it again now to include
your latest energy-efficient changes!

Thank you for your interest! There's nothing that you need to submit ahead of time. I just sent out a press release, so I will try to modify to include your company. At this point, I have also asked Paul Button, who also does energy audits to attend. If he accepts and you are agreeable, I would like you to focus your presentation on energy efficient building/remodeling tips (e.g. top five things you should focus investment on) and actions to tighten up your home's envelope. If Paul does not come, you can also cover the audit piece. Does that sound reasonable?

You can set-up your table starting at 10:30am. The library is located at 5 Academy Ave in Atkinson. I look forward to meeting you!

NH Chronicle on WMUR TV Channel 9 Wed Sep 28 @ 7:00 PM

Just a short note to the New Hampshire contingent of my mailing list to let you know that WMUR TV Channel 9 will re-broadcast the New Hampshire Chronicle segment about my colonial meetinghouse photography and book this Wednesday, September 28, at 7:00 PM. A solo exhibition of my meetinghouse photographs is about to travel to Tennessee. You will be seeing a newsletter in a few weeks with more information about that.
